Preceded by the lead singles 'Commas,' 'Rhythm & Blues,' and 'Bad Vibes' feat Seyi Vibez with guest appearances from Nigerian hitmaker Asake, American stars Giveon and Coco Jones, and Brazilian singer Aniita, the album has gone on to enjoy commercial success.

'The Year I Turned 21' set the record for the biggest opening day and week for an album by a Nigerian female artist on Spotify.

The album's 500 million Spotify streams are aided by the success of 'Santa,' her collaboration with Rvssian the Jamaican record producer and singer. The song has garnered over 339 million streams making it the most streamed song on the album.

The landmark stride of hitting 500 million streams makes Ayra Starr's sophomore album the most streamed by an African female artist on Spotify. It also makes it one of the most streamed Nigerian albums on the platform while edging her closer to the 2 billion streaming mark on Spotify.
