Though after the nominations were announced, Over the Bridge emerged as the strongest contender with 12 nominations, followed by Mami Wata, which snagged 11 nominations, the Prime Video original Breath of Life, with five wins, won the most awards this year, all of which were in major categories including, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Lead Actor, Best Director and Best Movie.
Though Chimezie Imo, who played lead alongside Wale Ojo in Breath of Life was not nominated, he still left the event victorious winning the Trailblazer Award, another major trophy.
Other winners included Over the Bridge and Jagun Jagun which both won two awards. The critically-acclaimed black-and-white fantasy thriller by CJ Obasi, Mami Wata won only one award for Best Makeup. Funke Akindele's record-breaking hit, A Tribe Called Judah, and Kayode Kasum's Afamefuna didn't win any of the categories they were nominated.
