American Idol Season 16 runner-up Caleb Lee Hutchinson has released a new EP, along with a blood-soaked music video just in time for Halloween. The new project is called Songs I’ll Never Play Again.
Caleb Lee Hutchinson Releases EP ‘Songs I’ll Never Play Again’
Songs I’ll Never Play Again features six songs, all off which show of Hutchinson’s deep country voice. The EP includes ballads like “If You Don’t Want Me” and “Freedom,” as well as more up-tempo tracks like “Devil Woman” and “Preservation.”
Hutchinson wrote on Instagram that it was “the most excited and nervous I have ever been to release a project,” adding that the music on the new EP is “haunting, melancholy, and very Halloween feeling overall.”
This is the third EP Hutchinson has released since his time on American Idol in 2018. He released a self-titled EP in 2019, followed by Slot Machine Syndrome in 2021. You can listen to Songs I’ll Never Play Again on various platforms.

Hutchinson’s Short Film Is Perfect for Halloween
The project comes with an accompanying short film, which was inspired by slasher movies and Hutchinson’s love of the TV show Dexter. The singer starts the video with a disclaimer that viewers should watch at their own discretion, especially if they’re bothered by violence or gore.
The short film for Songs I’ll Never Play Again is around 16 minutes long, featuring the songs from the new project. The music is used to tell the story of a fighting couple. Things end badly, as Hutchinson spends much of the video covered in blood.
Hutchinson announced on Instagram that he’ll be playing a show on Halloween to celebrate the release of the new EP. The show will take place at Bobby’s Idle Hour Tavern in Nashville on Monday, October 31, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
